Effect of Global Warming

According to Tim Hirsch (2008), increasingly climate change causes ecosystem to be destroyed. The happenings caused by global warming, such as melting ice, expanding deserts, and the impact of warm seas on the sex of turtles, affect migratory patterns of animals including birds, fish, and turtles and the places they dwell. Although many species have changed their habitats toward the north, some species that cannot change their habitats easily are unfortunately being exposed to risk of death. The author states that it happens because nature has changed too rapidly for species to adapt to the new environment for living. Consequently, he recommends that the way people conserve ecosystems be changed; otherwise, all efforts which people have made to protect ecosystem can end up.

This article gives people clear information about destruction of the ecosystem. Lately, people do not know what is happening to the ecosystem on the earth, and how they have destroyed nature. People should make an effort to protect the ecosystem by which they are surrounded because of three reasons. TheSe are that ecosystem problems have been caused by humans, that people are affected by the destroyed ecosystem as a part of the ecosystem, and that destruction of ecosystem is now directly connected to human’s economy.

First of all, people have made environmental problems by making something for convenience. Many new inventions giving environment bad effects have allowed people to live in a convenient way. After they are accustomed to living with their inventions, they could not control their use. Because of that, people are just trying to reduce use of stuff they are used to. For instance, people have cut billions of trees to make paper. So, many animals inhabiting the forest have lost their element. The atmosphere of the earth could not be purified because of lack of trees which help prify the atmosphere by changing carbon dioxide into oxygen. Furthermore, it causes flood. Although forest had been already removed when people realized that fact, people should have replenished trees to make paper. Therefore, people should protect ecosystem by taking responsibility for destruction of ecosystem.

Second, people should strive to protect the ecosystem because it could also have an effect on their body as a part of ecosystem. And, people cannot live without nature. For example, people have destroyed the ozone layer, which that cuts off most ultraviolet radiation from the sun, by using refrigerators or sprays. Thereby, it not only allows more ultraviolet rays to come into the atmosphere of earth, but also it can also lead the atmosphere to pollution by interrupting purification. In addition, the ultraviolet rays cause people to get skin cancer. Moreover, people in the earth live upon food from nature. If the ecosystem is polluted, people would get disease by eating food. In fact, there are a lot of people suffering from incurable disease caused by environmental problems. Accordingly, people are supported to take care of the ecosystem for their security.

Third, people should protect the ecosystem because it is related to economy. Especially today, it leads to many problems, because economy all over the world is connected. As a specific example, there are some problems with fish in Korea. Some fish originally living with cold water started to move to other seas to live with cold water, because of the increasing degrees of the ocean was caused by an ecosystem problem. So, fisherman faced the risk of losing their job. Fish price increased because it became harder to get fish in the ocean near Korea. It also influenced the advance of price. Consequently, nobody can deny the effect of ecosystem on people’s living.

In conclusion, people have caused many problems for living comfortably. It cannot be solved without effort. People say, “Every action has reaction”. By destroying our nature, the negative effects give direct feedback to us, such as economic, physical, and environmental problems. Therefore, people should take responsibility for destruction of ecosystem.
